This lesson isabout music. Students can classify the types of music through the instrumentsand its sound and can talk about their preferences about music, even join someactivities and play a role in them according to their musical talents. On thebasis, they are guided to use the languages to express their preferences andsome plosive sounds and their rules.

Step2 Listening

Task1: A reporter from the school newspaper isinterviewing students about music. Listen to the interviews. Draw lines betweenthe words to make complete sentences. Some words will not be used.

Task 2: The reporter paraphrased some of theanswers the students gave him. Listen to the interviews again and complete thesentences with the words you hear. (listen again)

Paraphrase: When you want toexplain something difficult to somebody, it is helpful to use easier words withthe same meaning. This will help you make it easier to understand.

Step4 Listen to a volunteer announcement

Task 1:Listen to an announcement about a school music festival. Tick the kinds ofvolunteers the festival needs.

Step 5 Talking--Role play

Student A is Debbie, student B is John. Theyare talking about being a volunteer of the festival.
Debbie: Where have you been ? You missed the announcement about themusic festival.
John: I was at the doctor’s office. Music festival ?
Debbie: Yes, it’s going to be next month on the school sports field.John, you can play the piano. How about playing it at the festival ?
John: Well, I’d rather play the violin. I can play Liang Zhu.
Debbie: Wow! Sounds good. What about you, Debbie ?
John: Actually, I don’t have much musical ability. I’d prefer just tohelp out with the crowds.
Debbie: You can sell tickets or work at a food stand.
John: So can I assume(認為，想） that the aim of the festival is to raise money ?
Debbie: Yes. All of the money will go to charity.
John: Well, if it’s for a good cause, everyone should take part !
